Client: Rural Health Redesign Center
Funder: Department of Labor and Industry (state)
Amount: $250,000 across 1.5 years
Overview:
In 2023, the Rural Health Redesign Center (RHRC) was awarded $250,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry through the PA Smart Industry Partnership Grant. This funding supported RHRC's implementation of the Emergency Medical and Community Health Industry Integration Partnership (EMCHIIP), an initiative to identify workforce development activities that should be pursued to advance mobile integrated health initiatives in the South West region of rural Pennsylvania. The project sought to address workforce shortages affecting CHWs, EMTs, and paramedics.
How We Helped:
In close coordination with RHRC and its hospital, education, and EMS partners, we crafted a successful grant application that clearly defined workforce challenges and outlined a collaborative approach to identifying sustainable strategies.
Impact:
The partnership worked to lay the groundwork for sustainable MIH programs, improving access to care while creating clearer career pathways for rural healthcare and emergency services professionals.
